Rain, drizzle, whatever it was...it was welcomed on our journey today. A treat to keep us slightly cooler than normal. We discovered that when the track notes say the entrance to the track it obscure it actually means there is no indication of the track entrance at all. We eventually backtracked enough to find our way, and subsequently enjoyed the company of walking with cows and sheep. Strange how even the presence of animals can be comforting when you are isolated from other people.
We weren't isolated for lunch or dinner however, as a very special trip from the whanau meant that we had extravagant picnics in Whatawhata and at a gorgeous spot at Kaniwhaniwha reserve. Slightly bittersweet, as it was the indication that we were travelling to the outer reaches of home and would no longer be close enough for visits from family.
