Friends on the trail...a definite morale booster. We shared the hike up to the summit of Pirongia with Nikki, Dave, Suzie, and little Hannah. Hannah was a bit of a celeb on the trail with many other hikers highly impressed that an 8 month old was out and about. Very cool. Thanks friends xxx
Selwyn met a fellow 'Aarn Pack' wearer and fan on the trail and exchanged pack stories of these alternatively designed packs (front packs distribute weight). Hannah calls Selwyn's front packs his 'Double D's' but that didn't seem appropriate when addressing a female pack wearer.
Pahautea hut at the summit is currently closed but we recommend this hike for others when it opens, a great Waikato adventure. We enjoyed the sun on the deck while relaxing before sundown.
We were reminded today that sometimes the walk is hard, not fun, and feels never ending. However, pushing on, continuing with what needs to be done (even though it may be unpleasant), and enjoying what you can makes for a great sense of achievement in the end. Enjoy the moment and all it has to offer.
