What a feeling to see those wonderful sticks on the ground indicating our arrival at the one third marker. It was an early start to the day. We had arranged to meet Aunty E at the road end, which according to the notes was a 12.5 hour hike away. So we packed up, ate brekkie in the dark and then had to wait half an hour as it was too dark to start walking. Not the best planning. Beaut day however, such amazing bird life and an absolutely gorgeous forest. The Pureora forest has been our favourite so far. We highly recommend this forest to others. Huts at Waihaha and Hauhungaroa are both new and clean which makes for a pleasant stay. Bog Inn Hut wasn't quite so luxurious but camping beside the hut was perfectly fine.
We arrived so much earlier than planned that we weren't sure if our ride would be there...never fear...Aunty E is true to her word and is waiting at the end of the road. What a reunion. A couple of days of fun are in order.
