Oh tussock, how we have missed you! Should we have forgotten the perils of tussock walking, we were soon reminded, when we walked through hours of tussock land. Hannah is learning the hard way that it is best to check where you step prior to launching forward, with numerous mid-shin plunges into stinky mud hidden beneath the tussock. Selwyn politely explained that he usually checks the footing with his stick first...upstairs for thinking, downstairs for dancing.
Anyway, tussock aside, we had a bit of a downer during the walking this morning. Perhaps it is tough when we constantly think of Bluff (only 9 days away), and instead of walking we just want to be finished. Really cold and wet weather is due overnight and for the next two days, so it will be a full winter kit for us.

While writing this we had the wonderful reunion with our dear Ed Snell, after our separation yesterday. We looked out the window longingly all evening thinking he may arrive but to no avail. We even had a hunter turn up who we greeted with such enthusiasm only to find that it wasn't our Ed at all (we did get a good chunk of venison though). But alas, as darkness was falling Selwyn yells from the porch..."we have Ed Snell"...hooray. It is so important to support and encourage each other out here and keeping an eye on new friends is a certain way to do it.
